Day 4 to 8

Alright….back with more blogilicious info as promised! But first, let’s have picture time…yes? For all you Facebook peeps (sorry, Mom, not you) you can see these on the FB.

Day 4:

So, the next day, Sierra and I decided to go to Ikea. Now, if you're not familiar with Ikea, it's a magical place with unicorns and rainbows and lollipop trees. OK, it doesn't have any of that, but it is still mighty magical. It's a HUGE warehouse with lots of cheap(ish) furniture and everything you could ever want for a house. Sierra needed some things, so we decided to go. The one we went to was in Brooklyn. Now, we could have taken the train like boring, regular people, but instead, we decided to take the FREE Ikea water taxi. I mean, come on, two boats in one weekend! Whoa! So, we did, and here are some photos of that.

Day 5:
Today I had an interview at American Artist Magazine. It would be great to work there, but we will see. I got an offer from PC Magazine, but it is a paid internship, so no benefits, so we will see about that as well. I went to H & M for the first time of my life! I was a little disappointed, but that may be because I was holding it up to be some great, magical place, like Ikea. It was OK, but not what I had imagined. I mean, it is still a three-story store, so that was impressive. I also went to one of those little restaurants where there's a huge salad bar with a million different kinds of food (I think Miranda goes to them in Sex and the City), anyways, I ate alone (sad) and watched all the people below me on 5th Ave at the expensive stores. Exciting!

Day 6:
I had an interview today at here! Network. It's a TV network dedicated entirely to gay programing. It seems like a cool place to work. It's SMACK dab in Time Square, which is a little overwhelming. We'll see about that one as well. Later, I went to my cousin's house and we watched Planet Earth and then played Guitar Hero. I was a little rusty since I've been away from the casa of Trevor and Shayna, but I soon got back into the swing of things and kicked my cousin's butt! Yeah!

Day 7: End of week 1!
Well, I've made it a whole week so far! Today I went and had lunch with Robin and met a woman she works with who is close to my age and very stylish. She has my dream haircut, if I had straight hair. I'm going to a party for her bf's bday on Saturday. Anyways, we went to this place called Pete's Tavern, close to Union Square. It opened in 1851 as a local "grocery and grog," an early euphemism for liquor store. They opened a tavern in 1864 which has since remained open, which makes it an offical historical landmark and the oldest continuously operating bar and restaurant in NYC. It even turned into one of the most famous speakeasies during the time of prohibition and was disguised as a flower shop!
Later, I went to see Sigur Ros in concert! It was amazing. I've seen them once before, but my memory of it was a little hazy, so I'm glad I got to see them again. The show was sold-out and I got the ticket from someone on CouchSurfing who was selling it! I went alone (boooo), but it was OK. It was in this great big building called the United Palace Theatre.

Now, if you're not familiar with Sigur Ros, you should be. Here's a link to one of my favorite songs, Staraflur. It was in the Life Aquatic. They are Icelandic and make, beautiful, beautiful music.

After the concert I met up with a CouchSurfer and his friend and his friend told me he had an extra ticket to see Mogwai, a post-rock band who I've wanted to see for about four years, so I'm going to see them tonight! I'll let you know how it is! Miss you all!
